Q: Do you offer travel insurance? A: We don't sell travel insurance directly, but we strongly recommend purchasing it through a third-party provider before your trip — especially for stays during peak season or around major events.

  • CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

Q: What time is check-in and check-out? A: Standard check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. These times allow our cleaning team enough time to prepare the home to our high standards.

Q: What if I arrive late at night? A: No problem, just let us know. Self check-in means you can arrive any time, day or night.

Q: What do I need to do before checking out? A: Just start the dishwasher if you've used it, take used linens off beds, start a load of towels if possible, and lock the door and leave keys in the lockbox please. Detailed checkout instructions are in your welcome message and inside the home.

  • TUCSON, AZ TRAVEL TIPS

Q: When is the best time to visit Tucson? A: When is the best time to visit Tucson? A: Tucson is a year-round destination. October through April brings warm, sunny days perfect for hiking and exploring (peak season). Summer is the best time because it's less expensive and even though it's hot we have properties with a pool and you can't miss the beautiful monsoon storms. The Tucson Gem & Mineral Show in late January and February is the city's biggest event — book well ahead.

Q: Do I need a car in Tucson? A: We highly recommend it. Tucson is a spread-out, car-friendly city. You can rent at Tucson International Airport (TUS). We recommend Turo.com for easy car drop off. Rideshare and the Sun Link streetcar (downtown) are options for shorter trips.

Q: What is there to do near Fig & Toast properties? A: Saguaro National Park, Sabino Canyon, Mount Lemmon, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, downtown Tucson's UNESCO-recognized food scene, and Mission San Xavier del Bac are all guest favorites. Each home includes a digital guidebook with our team's local recommendations.

Q: Is the area around your properties safe? A: Generally, yes — but as with any major city, some of our homes are located in neighborhoods that may not be considered the "best" areas. We encourage guests to review each property's location and reviews before booking and to take normal travel precautions during their stay. Fig & Toast is not responsible for guests' personal safety or for any incidents that occur in the surrounding neighborhood. The digital guidebook in your home includes neighborhood notes and emergency contacts.

Q: How far are your properties from the airport? A: Most properties are within 15 to 30 minutes of Tucson International Airport (TUS). Specific drive times are noted in each listing.

  • ELGIN/SONOITA, AZ TRAVEL TIPS

Q: Where exactly is Elgin/Sonoita and how far is it from Tucson? A: Elgin and Sonoita are small towns in southern Arizona's high-grasslands wine country, roughly an hour southeast of Tucson at about 5,000 feet elevation. Expect a quiet, rural setting with wide-open views.

Q: What is Elgin/Sonoita known for? A: It's the heart of Arizona Wine Country — home to more than a dozen vineyards and tasting rooms including Sonoita Vineyards, Callaghan, Dos Cabezas, and Rune. The area is also famous for rolling grasslands, ranching history, and some of the darkest night skies in the state.

Q: What is there to do besides wine tasting? A: Plenty. Patagonia Lake State Park (boating, swimming, fishing), Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve (world-class birding), Kartchner Caverns State Park, Coronado National Memorial, hiking and horseback riding in the Mustang and Canelo Hills, and stargazing from your patio.

Q: When is the best time to visit? A: Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) offer the most comfortable weather. Summer monsoon storms (July–August) bring dramatic afternoon skies. Winters are crisp but mild during the day.

Q: Do I need a car in Elgin/Sonoita? A: Yes, absolutely. The area is rural with limited services and no rideshare coverage in many spots. A vehicle is essential, especially for vineyard hopping. Please drink responsibly and consider hiring a local wine-tour driver.

Q: Are restaurants and groceries nearby? A: Dining and shopping are limited compared to Tucson. There are a handful of charming local restaurants and tasting rooms, plus a small market. Most guests stock up on groceries in Tucson, Sierra Vista, or Patagonia before arriving.

Wrightson trails), the Green Valley Pecan Company store, Mission San Xavier del Bac, and the artist village of Tubac just a short drive south.

Q: Is Sahuarita good for outdoor lovers? A: Yes. You're within easy reach of Madera Canyon and the Santa Rita Mountains for hiking, plus Sahuarita Lake, Anamax Park, and several golf courses including Quail Creek.

Q: How far is Sahuarita from the airport and downtown Tucson? A: About 25 minutes to Tucson International Airport (TUS) and 30–35 minutes to downtown Tucson — close enough for day trips into the city.

Q: What about winter? A: Sunrise Park Resort is about 45 minutes away with downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are popular right around town. Expect snow on the ground from December through March.

Q: Where do I fly into? A: Most guests fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) and drive about 3 hours up Highway 60. Show Low Regional Airport is closer but has limited service.

Q: Do I need a 4WD or special vehicle? A: A regular car is fine most of the year, but during winter snowstorms an AWD/4WD vehicle with proper tires is strongly recommended. Always check road conditions before driving up.

Q: Are restaurants, groceries, and shopping nearby? A: Yes. Pinetop and the neighboring town of Show Low have a good selection of restaurants, grocery stores (Safeway, Walmart, Bashas'), coffee shops, and outdoor outfitters.
